MADRID, Spain: On the morning of 29th August, when the 105th FDI World Dental Congress began at the Feria de Madrid exhibition centre in Madrid, the Spanish capital became the reigning capital of dentistry as well. Thousands of dental professionals from Europe and around the world are attending the international event to learn about the latest trends in their fields and see the newest products for dental practices and laboratories on display.

Over 200 Spanish and international providers have registered for the trade exhibition to present their latest equipment, materials and oral hygiene products. In addition, a scientific programme featuring 130 well-known experts from over 30 countries is being held over the course of the next four days. Furthermore, attendees will have free access to special sessions, such as this year’s World Oral Health Forum and the FDI Science Committee Forum, which will focus on global periodontal health and antimicrobial resistance, respectively.

The event has been organised by the FDI World Dental Federation in partnership with the Spanish Dental Association. Its president, Dr Óscar Castro Reino, said that this year’s congress will be a remarkable and rewarding experience and an important milestone for dentistry in the southern European country. “We hope the FDI World Dental Congress in Madrid will be the dentistry event of the decade,” he said.

Newly elected President of the Pakistan Dental Association Dr Mahmood Shah also arrived at Madrid and met up with Presidents of other countries’ dental associations.
