Health Ministry orders 'cease and desist' of PMDC, building sealed

Islamabad: In a recent notification released by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Commission (NHSRC), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council was ordered to cease its activities.

The notification mentioned, “In consequence of the approval of Bill of Pakistan Medical Commission, 2019 (Clause 28) in a joint session of Parliament of Pakistan dated 16th September 2020. The competent authority i.e. Secretary M/o NHSRC is pleased to issues ‘cease and desist order’ of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) with immediate effect and until further orders.”

Later in the evening, reports surfaced that a team of the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) sealed the building of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), formerly known as Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), stopped employees from working and took the record in its custody.
