Islamabad- Stretching from October 5th to 7th, the International Health Expo was the talk of healthcare community. Organized by Dr Jawad Faisal and Mr Aijaz Shahid, the expo took place at the Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad. The large-scale, multi-speciality congress was the first of its kind to be held in Pakistan. Several renowned names, like Medical News Pakistan, Dental News Pakistan, Pakistan Dental Association, and COMSATS among others, partnered with the organizers in its execution. Apart from medical and dental practitioners, the expo was attended by students, traders, manufacturers, service providers and other stakeholders. The 3-days expo welcomed an expansive variety of professionals to gain from the many opportunities offered at the event. Not only locals but many foreign delegates and Commercial Attaches of Embassies came to be a part of the event.
The opening ceremony of the International Health Expo was conducted on the morning of October 5th after the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr. Aamer Mehmood Kiani, who is the Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination. After the recitation from Holy Quran, the national Anthem was played. Expo Organizer, Dr Jawad Faisal welcomed all the participants, after which speeches were made by the Guest of Honour Dr Arooj Hassan (DG Health, MOH), Prof Dr Umar (VC Rawalpindi Medical College), and Prof Dr Junaid Zaidi S. I, H. I (Founder Rector Comsats).
The Chief Guest, Mr Aamer Mehmood Kiani, in this address applauded the efforts and constructive thoughts of the organizing team. He went on to talk about the various healthcare issues in the country. He urged for the increase in pharmaceutical export, and promotion of student exchange programmes. Mr Kiani pledged full support in creating meaningful relations among the healthcare industries, within Pakistan, as well as with foreign countries.
The expo was comprised of scholastic lectures, revolutionary exhibitions, and other engaging recreational, yet meaningful activities, along with Gala dinner and musical night. Free screening camps and educational awareness sessions, on various health related concerns, were also operating on the premises. Different activities and seminars were conducted throughout the course of three days.
The primary aim of the International Health Expo was manifold; their slogan was “Awareness, Edutainment, Networking”. The expo was resolute toward creating awareness among the masses regarding various ailments, their diagnosis, and their chemical and surgical treatments. The practitioners were made aware of the innovations and advancements in the healthcare field so they could be assisted in modernizing and refining their practice. The manufacturers and traders brought light to cutting edge technologies in the fields of pharmaceutical and medical equipment. Conferences and seminars concerning various branches of medicine and dentistry presented fresh, ground-breaking researches, addressed challenges in modern healthcare system, and offered radical solutions. The involvement of individuals from all categories of healthcare industry created an atmosphere of knowledge exchange, healthy marketing, and networking.
The dental branch of the event, Dentistry Con’18, was arranged by Dental News Pakistan in collaboration with PDA. Dentistry Con was held on October 6th, and consisted of many educational lectures and presentations from notable speakers from all over Pakistan. The scientific session covered all dental specialities, and catered all professionals in dentistry, ranging from students, to teaching faculty, to practitioners.
