Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences’ Teachers Association Holds General Body Meeting

Press Release- JAMSHORO: The meeting of the General Body of teachers of LUMHS, Jamshoro, was held at the main campus’ faculty lobby, under the Chairmanship of Prof. Suhail Ahmed Almani.


Senior faculty members, including Prof. M. Ayoub Laghari, Prof. Sajida, Prof. M. Akbar Kazi, Prof. Muzaffar Shaikh, Prof. Shaista Ansari, Prof. A. Ghaffar Memon, alongside other faculty members attended the meeting.


The Senior Professor highlighted the prevailing situation of the university and expressed serious concerns over the deterioration of the university’s administration, due to certain non meritorious decisions made by the administrative authorities, including the appointment of Retd. Medical Officer as a Registrar, followed by acceptance of Prof. Moin Ansari and Prof. Ghazanfar Hussain Taqvi’s resignation notices from the post of Chairman of Department of Psychiatry and Maxillofacial Surgery, respectively.


All faculty members requested the authorities to look into these matters.


The Council Presidents, Secretaries and members, alongside faculty members, agreed upon certain resolutions after putting all details into consideration.


First and foremost, those resolutions consisted of requesting the honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto and the Chief Minister of Sindh to take strict notice against the hiring of the previously retired Medical Officer as a Registrar.


Secondly, the General Body meeting unanimously requested the Vice Chancellor, LUMHS to schedule a meeting of the syndicate, to resolve the matter of resignations of Professors. It was also decided that, the recently concluded recommendation of Selection board and Syndicate should immediately be implemented to issue all pending orders.


The faculty showed great concerns over the delay in issuance of retirement of Prof. Shafique Ur Rehman, who officially retired in October’ 2017.


The Council President thanked the faculty members for taking active part in the meeting. It was discussed that if issues wont be resolved in time, protests might start against the faulty administration of the university after Eid.
