Jamshoro: The Liaquat University of Medical Health Sciences is hosting the very first Dental Educational Conference of Pakiatan today, 15th of November 2014, organized by the Institute of Dentistry on the directives of LUMHS Vice Chancellor Professor Noshad Ahmad Sheikh. The University’s Dentistry Skill Laboratory will also be inaugurated at the occasion.
The Conference themed ‘Exploring Dental Education, Paradigm Shift in Pakistan 2014’ has been inaugurated with the objective of deliberating and attempting to resolve flaws in the current dental curriculum as well as practices.
The Conference is being attended by students, dental academic professionals and private practitioners from all five provinces, and aims to address the many challenges and difficulties currently being faced by Pakistani students, professionals and even technicians in practicing their profession.
The primary purpose of inaugurating the laboratory is to equip young students with the necessary skill set and effective techniques for achieving ideal results. Common mistakes and weaknesses in current dental practices will be highlighted by experienced supervisors to prepare students in meeting international dentistry standards. The multipurpose laboratory will also function as a research center for students. These views were shared by the Chairman Organizing Committee, Institute of Dentistry, Professor Shahjahan Kaptar.
