KARACHI –  Alumni of Dow Medical College and a group of `concerned citizens’ accused Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan of taking `unnecessary’ interest in the appointment of vice chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS).

They demanded of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to appoint the new vice chancellor of DUHS purely on merit and on the recommendation of selection committee appointed by him for the purpose.

The issue of appointment of DUHS’ vice chancellor was raised at a news conference held at the Karachi Press Club.

According to a fax message, the press conference was addressed by several doctors, including Shershah Syed, Kaleem Butt, Jamal Shaikh, Mirza Ali Azhar, Mujtaba Memon, Nisar Shah, S.M. Qaisar Sajjad and Shaukat Malik.
