OSF-CAA organize blood donation camp

MN Report

KARACHI - A seminar aimed at creating awareness about thalassaemia among people was held here at IMS Resource Centre of Jinnah International Complex.

The seminar organized by Omair Sana Foundation (OSF) in collaboration with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) was largely attended by officials of CAA.

It was followed by a blood donation camp where officials and employees of the CAA donated blood for thalassaemia children.

Blood donation and thalassaemia awareness programme manager Dr Rahat Hussain and Obaid Hashmi gave a detailed presentation about the OSF’s activities for the cause of thalassaemia patients.

Dr Hussain informed the audience that thalassaemia is an inherited blood disorder and, as such, all members of the family must go through screening for thalassaemia as a precautionary measure.

He also emphasized the need for undergoing thalassaemia test before getting married.

Later, the OSF’s general secretary Dr Saqib Hussain Ansari thanked the CAA’s Airport Manager Ali Jan Agha for his support in arranging the seminar and blood donation camp.
He hoped that other institutions would follow the example set by the CAA for the cause of thalassaemia patients.
