Karachi: The 67th session of Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) Conference was recently held at the Boston, Harvard University. More than 4,000 high school delegates and their faculty advisors gathered from around the world to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Together with the staff of over 230 Harvard University, undergraduates, delegates will be asked to step into the role of international decision makers, negotiate on major international crises, and craft innovative policy solutions. This year students from Bahria University of Medical and Dental College (BUMDC) also actively participated in the global event.
The Harvard National Model United Nations Conference (HNMUN) featured twenty-five carefully crafted committees, including a Joint-Crisis Committee, an entirely Spanish-speaking committee, Harvard’s renowned Press Corps and Non-Governmental Organizations Programme, and an interaction between one of the General Assembly committees and the United Nations Security Council.
The event commenced with a brief introduction about the event. An insight regarding the layout of the sessions and the future conferences were discussed with the delegates. The students of Harvard showed their year-long preparation for the event via video presentation. The perseverance and hard work of the young students was inspirational for all the participating delegates. The delegates from Bahria University attended the sessions of World Health Organization and Legal committee.
On the third day of the HNMUN, a cultural bazaar was organized. Students of BUMDC dressed in various Pakistani cultures and brought some cultural food items and a stall for mehndi was setup.
On the closing ceremony, the General Secretaries of the Harvard announced the best delegates, best delegation. Participation certificates were hand over to the respective delegates.
