Pakistan’s top dental professionals attend lecture on CAIS

Karachi- An informative lecture was recently held regarding Implantology at Khan’s Dental Clinic, Karachi. The lecture, taken by Dr Taimoor Kamran, was titled "Computer Aided Implant Surgery (CAIS)-Is there a REAL benefit for us and our patients?”

The event was chaired by Dr Inayat ullah Padhiar (SI), Dr Kamran Vasfy and Dr. Mirza M.Shakir. The event organizers, Dr. Mumtaz A. Khan and Dr Urooj Mumtaz, welcomed the Chief Guests of the event.

The event was attended by prominent dental professionals of the country. Among the top notch dental professional attendees were Dr Mahmood Shah, Dr. Mervyn Hosein, Dr Saqib Rashid, Dr. Yawar Abedi, Dr. Mazhar Mehmood, Dr. Imtiaz Lone, Prof Dr. Wahab Buksh Kadri, Dr Naheed Najmi, Prof. Dr. Fazal Ur Rehman Qazi, Prof Dr Kashif Naqvi, Prof Dr Sameer Qureshi, Dr Arsalan Riaz, Prof Dr Nadeem Hafeez and Dr Noor ul Wahab. Representative from Straumann Dental Suppliers, Muhammad Kashif and Dental News Pakistan, Hashim Hassan were also present. Postgraduate trainees and dental students also actively participated in the event.

The speaker of the event, Dr Taimoor Kamran is a Post-Grad Clinical Teacher & Examiner at King’s College London. He is a Fellow member and Speaker at International Team for Implant (ITI). He is also Chair Young at ITI (UK & Ireland).

The event started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Dr Taimoor then commenced the lecture. He compared the conventional technique of implant surgery with the digital aided technique. The latest development in the field of computer aided techniques were highlighted. He discussed the ways to recognise CAIS as beneficial for the patients and encouraged the dental professionals to include CAIS in their treatment planning. Dr Taimoor shared his clinical cases where he successfully implemented CAIS. The outcomes shown were solely due to digital inclusion of surgery. The fact that CAIS left almost no chances of error, made it more desirable in clinical practices. He also highlighted the indications and the workflow involved in CAIS. The software available in Pakistan for CAIS do have the capability to make Implant Surgery less hectic for Dental Surgeons, if used in correct way. In the end of the lecture, he shared useful insights regarding his own clinical experience abroad.

In the end, Dr Saqib Rashid briefly spoke to the esteemed audience. He lauded the valuable information shared by Dr Taimoor on the domain of Implantology. He urged the participants to adapt modern techniques in their clinical practice.

In the end of the lecture, Dr. Mumtaz A. Khan thanked the senior members of the dental fraternity for taking their valuable time out and making the event a success.
