PAMI announces revolt against PMC

ISLAMABAD: The General Council of the Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions (PAMI), an association of private medical colleges, has recently announced a boycott of the PMC, demanding suspension of Admission Regulation 2021.

Prof. Dr Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, president, PAMI has said that PMC has been handed over to inexperienced people, wrong policies are destroying medical education.

According to details, an emergency meeting of the General Council was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, President, Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions. The recommendations sent by the PMC were reviewed and the illegal measures taken by the PMC in the 'Admission Regulation 2021' were condemned and the next course of action against the illegal measures of the PMC was taken with the approval of all the members.

The meeting reviewed how a lawyer (Ali Raza, Vice President PMC) and other unrelated persons were imposed on the medical department with unlimited powers while the same people had visited all the dental colleges in the country last year.

I have brought the dental colleges of Sindh in particular to the brink of collapse and this year through the Admission Regulation 2021, the medical and dental colleges of KPK and South Punjab are on their target.

The meeting condemned the PMC measures and demanded a boycott and suspension of Admission Regulation 2021. PAMI also rejected the NLE and said that if the demands were not met, private colleges would be admitted.

It was approved in the meeting that a white paper will be issued on Tuesday, June 22 at 1 pm by holding a press conference and at the same time, the future strategy to prevent this destruction of medical and dental colleges will also be informed.
