Karachi: Pakistan Dental Association in collaboration with Dental News, Dentsply and IADSR organized the Rotary Endodontics Workshop as part of the PDA Symposium 2014 at the Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi on 29th November, Saturday.
The comprehensive workshop was facilitated by President PDA, Dr Saqib Rashid and Head of the Operative Dentistry Department, DOW Dental, Dr Arshad Hasan. Using simple, everyday examples, the dynamic duo engaged the participants in an interactive lecture session, highlighting the importance of absolute isolation (rubber dams), irrigation, modern techniques, correct knowledge of tooth morphology and three dimensional obturation with the help of patient cases and videos. Dr Saqib Rashid encouraged participants to use the latest techniques and equipment in the field of endodontics for better success predictability, including Apex Locators, Path Finder files and Endo-vac negative pressure irrigation systems.
Dr Saqib gave a live rotary endodontics demonstration on a plastic block using S1, S2 and finishing files, after which the participants, including private practitioners, house officers and students, proceeded with the hands on session. Courtesy of Dentsply and IADSR, all participants received individual Maillefer Kits and credit hours for the Workshop respectively. The kit comprised of path finder files, rotary files, GP points, paper points, rulers and plastic blocks. After the workshop, lunch was served at the Marco Polo Restaurant.
