PDC celebrates WOHD

KARACHI: Pakistan Dental Community celebrated World Oral Health Day (WOHD-16) across the country. Around 1,100 people were reachedduring the week-long celebrations of WOHD. They were provided with free checkups by PDC Foundation’s teams of Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Quetta and Swat. Event pages were made on social media where educational quizzes, charts and videos were uploaded, and PDC members were constantly updated on the organization and completion of each successive event. The PDC’s first event was conducted in collaboration with the ERA and DIPCA at SOS Children Village of Sindh in Karachi. The programme included checkups, a talk on oral hygiene maintenance, and distribution of toothbrushes and toothpastes. Gift packs,prepared by volunteers, were distributed among those who visited checkup camps. The second and third events took place atKarachi’s Deaf Reach School and Quetta’s SOS Village Homes.Thefourth prophylaxis event is owed to the PDC ambassadors of Ziauddin University who arranged the programme at Karachi’s Primary Health Centre,located in Sikandarabad.The fifth event was conducted in Hyderabad’s SOS Village Homes. The PDC’s Lahore unitorganized the sixth programme at Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled while the PDC’s Swat wing brought up the rear with the final prophylaxis event where 200 people were reached and provided with dental checkups and advice on oral health maintenance.-PR
