Peshawar: The Department of Dental Material at Sardar Begum Dental College & Hospital, Gandhara University – Peshawar recently organized an informative and exuberant poster competitionunder the supervision of Prof Dr Tahir Ali Khan; Assistant Professor, Dr. Amjd Naseer and Dr. Aiman Khan; Assistant Professor. Mrs. Roeeda Kabir; Chancellor Gandhara University was invited as the chief guest for the event while the distinguished guests list included Prof Dr Abdus Salam; Vice chancellor – GU, Prof Dr Ahmad Hussain Mishwani; Principal Kabir Medical College, Ghulam Noorani; Director finance – GU, Dr Zainab Kabir Administrator – SBDC and Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool; Principal KCD. The event was attended by faculty members, house officers, undergraduate students andpost graduate trainees of Sardar Begum Dental College and Kabir medical College. The aim of this poster competition was to provide first year BDS studentsan opportunityto participatein CDE programmes and show their interest &abilities. Students were divided into 10 groups and were assigned with different topics related to Dental Materials.Posters, models, videos and power point presentations were used in competition. Every participant was evaluated individually by faculty members according to the given Performa. First position was awarded to the poster titled, “Dental amalgam” by Ibn-e-Ali, Saad, Safia, Rabail, Sahar and Moiza, second position was shared by two groups with posters titled, “Phosphate bonded investment materials” and “Silicone impression materials” – participants were Uzma, Laiba, Paghunda, Aliya, Haseeb, Zainab, Raheel, Farooq Talha, Palwasha, Saad, Malalai, Mehreen and Sheema. Third position was given to poster titled, “Zinc oxide Eugenol” by Raham-dad, Basit, Mahnoor, Waqar, Maryam, Basit and Usman. The event concluded with distribution of certificates to all the participants, gifts and celebration dinner to the winning team by HOD, Prof Dr Tahir Ali Khan.-PR
