KARACHI - The Higher Education Commission has launched an innovative project to give awards to Best University Teachers in Unive-rsities/Degree Awarding Institutions of the country in order to honour their achievements and recognize their contributions in the field of higher education. In the last four years, 131 Awards have been conferred on the best teachers of universities/degree awarding institutions'. The award also has a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- along with a certificate. The main Awards Committee in a meeting convened in 2013 selected Dr M. Umer Farooq, Professor of ENT and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) for the Best University Teachers Award for the year 2011. Prof Farooq has been selected on the evaluation done in keeping with the parameters and weightage to qualification, teaching, research and co-curricular activities and scored highest among the nomination received from the University.-PR
