Punjab Assembly announces Rs. 122 Billion as Provincial Health Budget

Lahore: The Punjab Assembly held its session for the budget of fiscal year 2014-2015.

The session was chaired by the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly - Rana Mohammad Iqbal, while the budget was presented by the Finance Minister Punjab -  Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman.

The total volume of the provincial budget was Rs1.034 Trillion

The allocation for health projects was Rs. 122 Billion. The amount for communications and works was kept at Rs137.53bn. The budget for production will be Rs 20.72bn, while Rs 48.01 bn is kept for special programs and Rs. 55bn has been allocated for special development programs.

Moreover, Rs 273 billion has been provided for education, R.s 60 bn for the establishment of new schools in the province and Rs. 5 bn for maintaining the law and order.

The allocations were earlier approved by the chief minister of Punjab – Shahbaz Shareef along with a a number of ministers, advisors, chief secretary Punjab, Inspector General Punjab and other key officials.

The salaries of government employees will be increased by 10% , while the budget for the police has been raised by 16%.
