Quiz Competition held at Baqai Dental College

Karachi- Annual Quiz Competition was organized by Department of Community Dentistry at Baqai Dental College. The competition was held among the students of 2^nd Year BDS. This co-curricular activity was orchestrated by the whole community dentistry team including Head of Department, Prof Dr Asghar Ali Shigri, Dr Mohammad Ali Leghari, Dr Samreen Shafqat, Dr Syed Raza Abidi and Dr Mahwish Bano.

The questions asked in the competition were from various topics of the entire community dentistry curriculum. The students of 2^nd year BDS were divided into sixteen groups and the competition was elimination based. It was divided into four rounds, First round was group stage eliminator, second round was the quarter final followed by semi-final and final respectively. The judges for this competition were, Head of the Department Community Dentistry, Prof Dr Asghar Ali Shigri and Dr Beenish, Acting Head of the Department Orthodontics.

This quiz competition turned out to be one of the most competitive contests compared to the previous ones. There was tough encounter between the teams and each student came fully prepared. The quiz competition was also witnessed by Heads of different departments along with lecturers and especially by the principal and vice principal of Baqai Dental College, Dr Kashif Ikram and Dr Talha M. Siddique respectively.

The fierce competition amongst the students showed their preparedness and excellent knowledge of the subject. Unfortunately there could only be one winner. After an intense final round, the judges had to make a close call to mark the winner since both the final contenders had performed exceptionally well. Finally the winners of Quiz Competition 2019 announced by Dr Asghar Ali Shigri namely, Salman Ahmad Farooqi, Waleed Shahzad, Sikandar Bakht Bijarani and Masab Zafar. The competition was concluded by a certificate distribution ceremony and principal of Baqai Dental College, Dr Kashif Ikram took the opportunity to applaud and recognize tremendous performance of students and the exceptional efforts of the entire community dentistry team to have been able to organize such an event.
