Sindh continues to hold its own MDCAT, confusion deepens

Karachi: In a recent press release, Vice-Chancellor, People’s University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women stated that Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) will be conducted by National Testing Services (NTS) and will be held as per scheduled released earlier ie 18th October 2020.

People’s University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women was chosen as Admitting University to conduct MDCAT for students applying in public and private medical and dental colleges of Sindh by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). A notification was earlier released stating that aspiring students can fill the online form on NTS website as NTS will entry test for admission was also conducted through NTS.

However, after the promulgation of Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), a national MDCAT will be conducted abolishing the central induction policy followed by PMDC.

Sindh rejects PMC

“On the directives of the Health Department Government of Sindh and with the consensus of Vice-Chancellors of all public sector Medical Universities, so in continuation of our advertisement, the ENTRY TEST is going to be held on the date announced earlier ie 18th October 2020 as such advised to submit their ONLINE FORM on the website/portal of National Testing Service (NTS) as well as prescribed fee and required documents as per procedure latest by 5th October 2020,” the notification read.
