KARACHI: To promote co-operative learning, the Liaquat College of Medicine and Dentistry (LCMD) dental college recently arranged an academic week 2021, loaded with fun-filled educational activities. Dental News Pakistan was the exclusive media partner of this event.
The week-long celebration comprised 3-day educational activities, annual gala lunch and a picnic. The participants included BDS students, house officers and faculty members.
Prof. Dr Navid Rashid Qureshi, Principal, LCMD, emphasized the importance of this event in relevance to the final professional exam preparations in the opening ceremony and Dr Naheed Najmi, Vice-Principal, LCMD, briefed weekly planned events.
The event aimed to develop students' group leadership skills and highlight the significance of group discussions in the practical experience.
On the first two days, BDS professional groups remained engaged in relevant subjects procedural skills, clinical case-based learning and research poster competition. The students showed their scholarly and intellectual reflection while presenting the posters.
The panel included Prof. Dr Navid Rashid, Prof. Dr Uzma Zareef, Dr Samir, DrTazeen, Dr Irum Munir Raja, Prof. Dr Rizwan Azmi, and Prof. Dr Irfan Ashraf, Prof. Dr Nusrat, Dr Abdul Malik, Dr Asiya and Dr Ather, judged the students' posters.
Moreover, to amplify problem-solving skills, Prof. Dr Tahera Ayub commenced the quiz competition, employed with the latest e-learning tool, Socrative.
Mr Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Chairman, LCMD, was invited as the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony. Moreover, Prof. Dr Wahab Qadri, Principal, BUMDC, Prof. Dr HR Sukhiya, Principal, SSCMS, Prof. Dr Saeed Rauf Shah, Principal, Makran Medical College, and Prof. Dr Junaid Lakhani, Principal JMDC, also graced the occasion with their presence.
The awards were distributed among the winners. Prof. Dr Tahera Ayub bagged a special vote of thanks for her excellent management throughout all the academic activities.
The academic week 2021 celebrations concluded with the efforts of the LCMD's COD Co-curricular committee as Annual Gala Day, which included a poetry session, skits, title distribution, musical brand performance by Khudgarz and a memorable beach party.
