MIRPURKHAS: In a proactive initiative, the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at Bhitai Medical and Dental College (BMDC) in Mirpurkhas organized a comprehensive one-day hands-on workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS).
The workshop, held in collaboration with the faculties of General Surgery, General Medicine, Oral Medicine, Nursing, and Physiotherapy, was supported by the Department of Medical Education.
Noted speakers, including Dr Shamsher Mardan Mari, an official BLS trainer and Cardiologist at Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas, and Dr Aftab Ahmed Kumbhar, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Assistant Professor in the Department of OMFS at BDMC Mirpurkhas, played key roles in the workshop.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcoming address to the distinguished attendees, including board members, principals, faculty, house surgeons, and students from the Bhitai Group of Colleges.
The 40 participants were divided into three groups for hands-on practice sessions post-training, each group being supervised by the faculties of OMFS, General Surgery, and DPT, respectively.
Dr. Aftab Ahmed delivered a concise presentation outlining the workshop's introduction, objectives, and contents. Subsequently, Dr Shamsher Mardan Mari elucidated the anatomo-physiological aspects of BLS techniques, offering a hands-on demonstration on manikins. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment.
As a gesture of appreciation, Dr Permanand Kumar, Principal BDMC, presented a souvenir shield and a cultural gift of "Ajrak" to Dr Shamsher Mardan Mari, the guest speaker.
To foster networking and camaraderie, the session concluded with a high tea, during which participants provided valuable feedback by filling out feedback forms.
