ISLAMABAD: According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, Pakistan’s positivity rate recently went up to 1pc with the arrival of winters.

Pakistan’s positivity rate, which remained less than one per cent for the past few days, rises to one per cent, as the arrival of winter has increased the rate of COVID-19 infections not only in Pakistan but in several countries.

While talking to the media, Prof Dr Javaid Usman said that a decrease in the temperature was the only reason for the increase in COVID-19 cases. He said COVID cases started increasing in China, Russia, Europe and Austria, all because of the winter season.

People keep their windows closed during winter and spend more time indoor, due to which inter-human contact duration increases and the virus does not get the chance to go out. Because of lack of ventilation, the chances of infections go up, he told. He further said that viruses of influenza and corona have similar symptoms and become more active during winters.
