PESHAWAR: Pakistan Association of Dental Students (PADS) recently inaugurated the 3-day Mid Year Meeting 2022 at Iqra University, Peshawar. Dental News was the exclusive media partner of the event.

Day 1 - May 13, 2022

The meeting started with the word of Dr Aneeq Majid, General Secretariat, PADS and Dr Aneeqa Aslam, Founder/Chairperson, PADS. The President of the organisation, Dr Aleena Saleem, also delivered the speech talking about all the achievements and successes of her tenure and highlighted significant triumphs that the workforce accomplished, including events like Deaf Outreach Program 2022, Dental camps conducted simultaneously in different cities of Pakistan. 

 The National Cabinet, co-ordinators from different dental colleges and local cabinet members also delivered their speeches mentioning their efforts, suggestions, and in general, the changes they brought together as a team with their directors, including Dr Unaiza Malik (Director of Editorial Board), Dr Wajiha Mazhar( Director of Leadership and Training Program), Zainab Noor (Director of Scientific Program), Hadiqa Moin (Director of Registrations), Dr Samiullah (Director of Technological Support), Meena Mayan (Director of Scientific Program). The organisation's agendas were also further re-evaluated, and the slogan, 'To Glory Forever' became the official slogan for the organisation. The event was covered by the media team, including the Summayah Hamid (Social Media Head), the Maham Taj (Podcast Host) and Abdul Rafeh (Marketing and Social Media Head).

Day 2 - May 14, 2022

Day 2 events kicked off with an opening ceremony. Dr Wahaj conducted two highly productive and captivating lectures, i.e., "Forensic Odontology and Medicolegal Cases" and "Future of Orthodontics".

 A remarkable leadership program was conducted. Prof. Dr Shah Jehan, Dr Haseebullah Awan and Dr Imran Gilani mentored the young dentists to ace interviews and present themselves in different scenarios.

 Moreover, to polish the photography skills of the dental students, a Dental Photography Competition was held.

Day 3 - May 15, 2022

Prof. Dr Muslim Khan and Prof. Dr Tariq Ali Khan started the day with a lecture on "Scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery" and "Perio isn't all about scaling", respectively.

 The event was followed by an introduction to the International Association of Dental Students and Exchange Board by Dr Aneeq Majid. 

 Furthermore, four dental practitioners, Dr Muhammad Yunus, Dr Isham Javaid, Dr Asif Qureshi, and Dr Sadia Nisar Ahmed, did a panel discussion on opening up a private dental practice. They also interacted with the crowd and answered their concerns and queries regarding opening up a clinic. 

 Dr Kaejenn Techia conducted a virtual session where he shed light on a self-care guide for dental students and how to cater to mental health better.

 Further, to enhance and polish the soft skills of dental students virtually and physically both, a lecture contest was held where candidates were given the freedom to freely deliver lectures on topics chosen by them.

 The event ended with distributing prizes, shields and medals amongst the organising committee, PADS team and teachers. Dr Wajeeha Mazhar was appreciated for conducting a successful and well-planned Scientific Program event.
